What does one say about the Mount Royal Trail Ride? The fact that it is growing by leaps and bounds, the fact that it has 90% of the original riders coming back every year says that it is one awesome ride, one unforgettable time. One rider sums it up with this comment we found humbling and pleasing, "I've traveled all over America riding this land, basically I've become a professional trail rider of sorts, I have to say I have ridden no ride that tops this." |

When someone makes a statement like that what does one say after that..... I think he just appreciates it. . .walks away thankful knowing he has done something right. The Mount Royal Trail Ride is giving riders a great time to remember in their lives and enjoy sharing their experience with others. Royal Wade Kimes can be proud of this event, not only that, but he has proven one man can make a difference in so many lives. The ride benefits the "Meals for Kids" program. In 2008, our 3rd annual event, we helped feed some 2,336 kids. The event raises more money for the children than any other event put on all year for the program. Both Oklahoma and Arkansas kids benefit from this event. The Ride Itself Royal Wade Kimes had a vision of opening up the old 1800's wagon trail coming out of Chester, Arkansas and taking it to the highest peak on the mountain to the west. After three years of meeting with landowners, and cutting out the trail, Royal Wade Kimes was granted permission to open this trail to riders from across the nation once per year. The ride crosses the old Cole Younger Pass where Bell Star and other outlaws rode. At one point you can see the wagon wheel tracks that have been cut through a long flat rock. Another place there is a busted wagon thimble laying exposed that Royal Wade discovered while cutting out the trail. The ride leaves the valley ranch and ends up at the mountain camp. Chuck wagon dinner and a campfire show ensues after all the riders have bedded the horses and had some time to relax. It is a time like no other. . .. Royal Wade Kimes, who is the top iTunes downloaded artist in the country western field, puts on the campfire show with one of his band members. The next day everyone saddles up and rides down the mountain, taking a different direction with breathtaking views as an added plus! When everyone gets back to the base camp, that night after dinner, there is a concert that is open to the public, VP, front row seating is reserved for trail riders and all concert attendees have seating behind them. The concert has two to three opening bands and then the 'fireworks' really gets started with Royal Wade and his band. What does one say about this event? "BE THERE!!!!" |
